About Us

Real prep. Real results.
Real Prep. Real Results.
What happens when you treat test prep as preparation for college and life, teaching students real skills in math and language instead of short-term tricks and shortcuts?

What happens when you leave behind the one-size-fits-all approach to the SAT, and instead offer dozens of different classes, approaches, and levels among which students and parents can choose?

What happens when an experienced counselor meets face-to-face with every prospective student, getting to know their academic dreams and individual learning style, and builds an individualized plan for reaching those goals and dreams from the very start?

Amazing things happen. Since 2011 Summa has helped 36 students reach a perfect “2400” SAT score, and the Summa team has helped thousands reach their college dreams by offering sound advice and guidance through the college planning and admissions process. Give us a call to schedule a free one-on-one counseling session to help us plan a strategy to reach your SAT and college goals.

Facts About Summa

Summa's goal in college planning is to help students find the right fit.• Summa has already assisted 36 students throughout San Diego in achieving perfect 2400 SAT scores since our founding in 2011.

Last year Summa’s students contributed an estimated 25 percent of all of the perfect SAT scores in California.

• Summa's goal in college planning is to help students find the right fit, a process that begins early in their high school careers and extends beyond their first year in college. "Getting in" is important, but "staying in" is what counts.

Since 2011, Summa students have gained admission to (and thrived at) a wide range of colleges and programs, including selective private schools like Harvard, Princeton, and Stanford, tech schools like MIT, Caltech, and Olin, small liberal arts colleges like Williams, Pomona, and Juniata, public universities like the UC and Cal State campuses, Purdue, and U-Michigan, accelerated programs like Brown Direct Med, UCSD Medical Scholars Program, and Rutgers' six-year Pharm.D. Program, and many others.

• Summa utilizes its own curriculum and unique teaching methods grounded in the founding staff’s roots as educators, with over 7000 hours of professional development time logged since 2011.

• Summa programs are available for all grades between 5th and 12th, including Summa Accelerator programs focused on writing, literature and mathematics enrichment, and highly individualized and targeted SAT and ACT study.

Our Vision

Summa has always believed that "test prep" as it is generally run in the U.S. is ineffective, and that what students really need is college prep.

Part of that is what we do in the classroom, where students develop high-level skills in reading, writing, and mathematical reasoning, and then learn how to apply those skills to any intellectual challenge, whether that's a standardized test, a classroom assignment, or life itself.

But there's more to getting ready for college than simply polishing academic skills. Students also need to develop a sense of who they are and what colleges are the best fit for them.

At Summa, we engage in holistic learning and mentor our students through a process that is as much one of self-discovery as it is academic enrichment.
