Our Registration Process

1. Schedule a counseling appointment.

Students and parents are required to meet individually with a Summa counselor for approximately 30-45 minutes before registering for classes. We do this for several reasons:

• To customize a course of action for approaching college planning and the SAT.
• To obtain in-depth knowledge about a student’s goals, passions, strengths and weaknesses.
• To learn about the student’s individual learning style and quirks.

We want to fully communicate the nature of our program—student effort and focus are vital. At this meeting, we are evaluating whether or not the student has the interest and commitment to participate.

2. Please bring information which will assist your counselor's evaluation.

Upon scheduling the appointment, our front office staff will request that you bring your student's PSAT, SAT, ACT, STAR, and ISEE/SSAT reports, and school grades. If the student does not have a score available, a diagnostic test may need to be scheduled through the front office and completed prior to the counseling appointment. A registration form will be provided to the student when they arrive for their first appointment.

3. Register.

After the initial counseling appointment and review, students are placed in a program suited to their needs and schedule, and progress is monitored on an ongoing basis. In some cases, we determine that this is not the right time or fit for your student, and offer advice as to other activities or programs. At Summa, your student's success is our goal. Sometimes, that means delaying your student's start to working with Summa.

Note: All new students are charged a new student enrollment fee of $50.
